According to a new study by scientists in University of California, Berkeley, dinosaurs were said to have come from reptiles then progressed into today’s birds. One thing that made this very fascinating was that their growth as well as sexual maturation seemed more like mammals and that is, inclusive with teenager pregnancy. UC Berkeley graduate student Sarah Werning conveyed that even if dinosaurs matured a lot during their lifetime, they underwent a speedy growth surge when they reach adolescence. She, together with Andrew Lee who is a current UC Berkeley doctor and at the same time a beneficiary who is at this time a postdoctoral beneficiary at Ohio University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine located in Athens have illustrated that dinosaurs arrived at sexual ripeness almost at the conclusion of the fast growth stage, well before they even attained their biggest body dimension.

Medium up to huge mammals and this would include humans are also able to produce offspring before they come to an end in their growth stage. According to Werning, dinosaurs were created exceptional and endured elevated grown mortality. This made them engaged in premature sexual maturity in order for them to survive. The student’s advisor by the name of Kevin Padian is also one professor of integrative biology as well as a curator affiliated with the UC Berkeley’s Museum of Paleontology. He expressed his excitement on the discovery. He said that age at sexual maturity is connected to several things. He added that due to this, reptiles could not be used as a representation for the growth of dinosaur compared to what several scientists normally do. This was somewhat seconded by Werning when she conveyed that tracing the reproductive maturity age would open up several balancing opportunities of dinosaur exploration.

According to the article, there was a conclusion in the recent online publication of a journal titled Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences which originated from an investigation of the three fossils of dinosaurs that had been definitely classified as female. A stereo boom microscope was used in the investigation. The stereo boom microscope employed was able to give accurate information on this issue. An interior formation analogous to tissue seen among female birds that are living-a stratum of tissue of the bone rich in calcium also known as medullary bone which is placed inside the cavity of the marrow immediately prior to laying eggs as a reserve for producing eggshells were seen in thin slices of these dinosaurs’ fossil bones.

On the other hand, dinosaurs also do egg-laying. They stocked up calcium in the same structure before they ovulate. According to Werning and also Lee, leg bones coming from Allosaurus as well as Tenontosaurus had this kind of structure. This made them came up with an assumption that the two animals died in a while prior to laying eggs. They also reckoned that the dinosaurs were equally adolescents. Allosaurus was ten years old and Tenontoaurus was eight years old when they died when these kinds of dinosaurs were thought to have lived for thirty years.

Moreover, there was also another bone, which was derived from one Tyrannosaurus rex, still a female, described by a paleontologist Mary Schweitzer in the year 2005 that also had medullary tissue during the dinosaur’s demise at eighteen years old. Werning documented that the three dinosaurs had chances of realizing sexual ripeness much earlier. A stereo boom microscope helped in the analysis of these animals.
